Flyers - Knuble - Are you a real fan?

2009 Free Agent Frenzy!

So Bouwmeester signed with Calgary last night, and Heatley the douchebag nixed the deal with the Oilers.
Today will be fun.

Flyers have been unable to make a deal with Knuble. He wants a 2 year deal because he wants to retire in Philly, and they only want to sign him to a one-year deal. Supposodly.
I will cry, alot, if Knuble is gone. They better make a deal with him today.
Also, Niitty. I don't like these Boucher rumours. What is wrong with Niitty? Boo.

Sigh. Okay, I am very literally going to spend the next 6 hours parked on the couch in front of TSN2 to see how the day goes down. BLAH.
Good things better happen today.

Behind the cut, cause I literally watched for almost the whole 6 hours. )

NHL

2009 NHL Entry Draft

I didn't get home last night until almost 2am, so I didn't get to see the draft, I heard about the Pronger deal though.

I do not understand this trade. Homer sure does love throwing picks away. (I'm still po'd about Upshall AND a pick for effin Carcillo. Sigh.)
Lupul going kinda doesn't bug me, though. He's who I wanted them to trade at the deadline to get rid of the cap hit. However, that was before we were without Scottie.
But I also still believe Lupul is over-rated by many (as is Pronger - he's not what he used to be) and I mean, Homer could've traded worse. I DUNNO.
I don't know what to think of this.
I mean, obviously Homer is not thinking about the future of the franchise but rather the NOW. He wants to win. And of course I want to win too. . . but TWO first round picks, Lupul and SBISA gone?
I will admit, I was never on the Sbisa train the way alot of other fans were. I admitted he was impressive, and he had his awesome moments. But for the most part all I could see was his immaturity as a player, and the fact that he just wasn't at NHL level yet, and I didn't understand why a bunch of people thought he was the greatest thing of all time.
BUT he does have so much potential. And I saw him as a huge part of the the future for this organization. He was going to be good for this team.
Blah.

Also, who is Ryan Dingle?

It kinda amuses me that Lupul's headed back to Anaheim in a trade for the guy that's the reason he left the first time.
I haven't decided yet if I'm gonna miss him or not. But I do think the team will. That locker room next year, with that "core" that Homer is trying to keep, yeah, no Upshall and Lupul now? BLAH. Some core. I dunno.
I dunno.

---------
Okay, watching draft now...

Haha. How awesome were the boo's that Bettman got? I love it.
I cannot stand to watch this man talk . . . .fast forward. ;)

Tavares is #1. I'm getting kinda emotional. It was weird not knowing this whole time.
Geeze bud, did you bring all of Oakville with you . . .GET ON THE STAGE PLEASE. lol ;)
Yay! I'm excited for the Islanders.
Bwhaha. These Islanders fans in the crowd are making me laugh.

Bwhaha. Duschene looks kinda happy that Tampa took Hedman at #2.
And seriously, Tampa has no reason to suck ass next year, now. Especially if they keep Lecavalier.

ooooooh, the Av's were his fave team growing up. Okay whatever.

Is Bob McKenzie in love with Duschene or what?!? lol.
I AM KIDDING.
I like this kid too.
Also, I adore James Duthie. It is sickening how much.
----------

I'm kinda disappointed that the Kessel/Kaberle deal didn't happen.

Ew Bettman just announced the Pronger deal. It makes it more depressing actually hearing it.

Boo to Schenn going to the Kings. That makes me sad.
Haha, Burke looks pissed.
Blah.
I wanted this kid on the Leafs.

This draft sucks.

Go Burkie!
OMIGOD I HATE HABS FANS!! dfjkghjsfkdsf
Nazem Kadri of the Knights.
HAI RON WILSON!!! Hee, I miss you!
Omigod this is so exciting! Haha.

Ohhhh, Nieuwendyk!

Okay, I kinda don't care about the rest of this round now that the Flyers aren't picking . . . I'll check out the rest online I think.
Rounds 2-7 are being aired very shortly on the NHL Network . . . I might check out some of that, I dunno.

So, overall, I'm trying to be excited about the Leafs selection of Kadri . . . but I really wanted them to grab Schenn.
Also, Flyers. Sigh. So disappointed.

This post is everywhere and probably makes no sense. I apologize.

Adios.

NHL

2009 NHL Awards

"Live" on CBC right now.

My play-by-play that I usually reserve for my personal journal )
Overall I was fairly disappointed. They weren't much better than CBC's production last year. What was the point of moving them to Vegas? For more players to show up?
They didn't even show any of them on tv. Sigh.

And in other news . . . . . I never ended up talking about the Balsillie/Coyotes/NHL BS . . . and now there is no point, everyone knows what happened.
Balsillie is still optimistic though. Judge Baum makes it seem like the only reason he ruled the way he did was because of the time restrictions Balisillie put on everything. . . but he will be part of the auction in September, apparently . . . so we'll see what happens.
Sigh.
Okay, I am off to watch Harper's Island, and then I need sleep so I won't be in a coma, once again, at work tomorrow morning.

Later.

NHL

Blaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT.
Well, after all the months of drama with my laptop it turns out it wasn't fixable afterall, so I had to buy a new one earlier this week. . . and finally, I officially have a computer again.

Anyway, so, where do I start? I guess I'll go with last night and work my way backwards. . .
Looking at the positives about the Penguins winning the cup last night .... I am very amused by the predicament that Hossa is in right now. I love it alot.
Also, I think this could be good for the Flyers next season. Not only are the Pens a Conference/Division rival, but it's the effin Pens. I hope it's something that just really kicks them in the butt next year, and drives them to stay consistant and kick some asses.

This years playoffs were so weird for me. I really didn't care who took home the cup last night. I haven't watched a full game since the 2nd round. Once the Bruins and Canucks were out I didn't care anymore, no one that I wanted to win was remaining, so this year was just very blah for me.
I thought I would get emotional last night. Teary eyed at the very least.
Last year when Detroit won, I cried when they cried, smiled when they smiled, etc. ya know? I put more of myself into watching the playoffs last year. It was so much more different this year not having a team to follow almost to the very end. Having the Flyers out in the first round was just weird to me.
It is weird to me to not care who wins the Stanley Cup. To find the finals boring.
HOW CAN I FIND THE FINALS BORING? It's the finals.
But it was very 'who cares?' for me.

I am happy for the Penguins though. I mean, I don't HATE them. Some of their players, yes. But them, no.
LOL. Possibly that changed after meeting a couple of them back in Feb, I dunno.
But anyway, point is, I'm happy for them. They deserved to win that game last night. I was super impressed with the maturity they had after unexpectedly losing Crosby in the 2nd, Staal played amazing. And I am super happy/excited for Talbot he had an excellent playoff run, and he was just as fab yesterday. Plus, he is awesome. Heh.

Anyway. What am I saying? This is all coming out of my ass, cause I seriously don't give a crap.
Sooooooo, being without internet for awhile I was on youtube the other day looking at dumb stuff and I found the following:

Carter is a hot ass. And the chick taping is making me laugh so much "yes you are". ROFL hahaha.

Okay so a few things worth mentioning:
* There are rumours the Rags might be after Knuble. No thank you.
* Heatley asking for a trade. I don't really know what to think about that. Rumour has it he wants to go out West.
Blah. I dunno. Did he not ask for the no-trade clause himself? So, like....yeah, I dunno what to think about this one.
* Hatcher has been hired by the Flyers as player development coach. That is awesome news. I am happy he will still be with the organization.
* Player-wise Leafs haven't done anything yet . . .but Burke has fired majority of office/support staff/marlies coaching . . . this is going to be an interesting summer in this city.
* Sigh. Emery. Another one I don't have feelings on just yet. If he has improved on-ice as everyone has been saying, than I say this is a good move. He got the Sens to the Finals 2 years ago, he is a capable goalie when he is focused and on his game. No, he's actually pretty amazing when he's on his game.
I just hope he doesn't bring along all the BS with him he had with the Sens last year. He says he's over it, but TSN stalkers caught him being an asswipe with a team staff member of his KHL team this season too. So yeah. I dunno.
I would think he would take this opportunity to be back with an NHL club to prove he deserves to be, and that he is, an NHL goalie. I have hope. We'll see what happens.
The members of the team that they've interviewed about him (Carter, Knuble, Timonen, Asham, Briere) all seem to be hopeful about the season, and think he has changed and that this could be a good thing. . . . . . Now if it's true that Homer is looking into getting Esche again and we have an Emery/Esche tandem. . . that is something else completely and I have no faith that this team will get too far next season.
We shall see though.

I think that is all. I've been gone too long that I can't even remember what else I wanted to talk about.
Oh, one more thing:

How hot is Carter? (even though he dressed like a schlep to a press conference) lololol ;)

So I guess I won't be back here until next Thursday if anything good happens at the NHL Awards (unless of course there's a ruling in the Coyotes/Balsillie case before then), or unless the Flyers re-sign Knuble too. . . .lalala ;)

Kay, later.

Flyers - Bleed It

Randoms.

I have been without a computer for the last 1.5 months. It has been truly annoying. Also, a little nice . . . I didn't realise how much time I had been spending/wasting on it until I started spending my days doing better things.
Also, we found out last week that they are stalking our computers at work -- as in there is a spy program watching what we do, and that can even monitor our keystrokes (though I'm not sure we are being watched to that extent). Do I work for the CIA? I just want to know.
Needless to say, I have avoided doing anything personal at work now. . . hence the lack of posts.

So, I am super disappointed in the playoffs this year. It is garbage. And am I in the minority of those NOT excited about last years rematch?
I do not want the Pens to win. But I also want someone new to win this year. So just BOO.
AND, my stupid brother is driving to Detroit tomorrow to go to the stupid game which makes me hate it even more ;) Heh.

Also, I have to mention Peter Zezel. He was part of the magic of the Leafs back in '93 when I was super obsessed, and he was a great man who did a lot for the community.
I never met him or anything like that, but he was on OTR like 57834754875 times it seemed, and through that you really got a sense of his personality and who he was. He really was just an optimistic person who loved life. He always just seemed happy, and like one of those people that makes everyone around him happy. I'll miss seeing him the show in the future.
My thoughts and best wishes to his family.

And one last thing, congrats to Simon Gagne & his wife who had a baby boy earlier this week (I just saw that on the Flyers site). I had no idea they were expecting . . . I saw his wife at the wives carnival back in February and she did not look 6 months pregnant at all.
Anyway, that is awesome! Best of luck, congrats!

=)

Flyers - Knuble - Are you a real fan?

Flyers: Pics @ Leafs 4.1.09

So I am super bored right now, avoiding my work per usual, and have nothing to talk about.
I tend to not like to share the wealth, so I've avoided posting my pictures from the Flyers @ Leafs game on April 1st.
But as I said, I am bored so I am going to post a few (as in, a few) now.

This first one of Niitty is my absolute fave:

A few more . . .  )

And that is all for now. I suppose I should get my butt in gear and do some actual work.

Canada

Oh Canada, why you make me sad?

Le sigh.
So we lost.
To Russia.

It was a good game. 2-1. THOUGH IT SHOULD'VE BEEN 7-2 FOR US!! dfjkshdjkfh
It was retarded. We outshot them like 40-17 or something insane like that.
Bryzgalov (sp? I dunno, I sounded it out) needs to play crazy like that during the regular season, and than maybe the Coyotes will actually make the playoffs. ;) Sigh. He is the only reason they won that game.

And omigod, Upshall was ROBBED once again. In the Semi's he had this amazing chance. And yesterday . . . sigh. He really deserved a goal. That line (Lombo/Armstrong) deserved a goal! They had a reallly amazing game. It just wasn't reaching the back of the net.
And speaking of being robbed, poor Heatley.
And omigod, Shea Weber! With SIX seconds left, I swear I thought that shot went in . . . . nope. Side of the net. Sigh.

Anyway, I am insanely disappointed. We lost to Russia. Again.
Whatev though, we'll kick their ass at the Olympics.
dlfsdljflskdjlsdkjfkjs

Also, playoff updates:
Wings up 3-2.
Hawks up 3-2.
Canes up 3-2.
Pens up 3-2.

Ducks & Bruins . . . . you can win this!!!! You NEED to!
I've decided that ultimately what I would like to see is a Ducks/Bruins final.
I mean, I really want it to be Vancouver, and omigod how much do I love Luongo, but I dunno. I just feel like he is the only reason they're still even alive, and I don't know that he can carry them all the way to the finals.
I mean, I also wouldn't mind a Hawks/Bruins final . . .
Whatev. Ultimately, it doesn't matter to me anymore anyway.

Other news: Apparently there is now a Vancouver based group that wants to buy the Thrashers and relocate them to Hamilton.
SIGH.
Good luck with that.

Scottie is excited

Yay! Lots of news!!

Okay, Canada stuff first . . . .

Ian White came back home to Toronto earlier in the week because of neck pains, and is out of the tournament.

The quarter-final game against Latvia just ended. We won 4-2! Our semi-final opponent is yet to be determined.
I AM SO EXCITED!
Haven't watched the game yet though, as I'm at work, but just caught the score on the radio.
Hamhuis, Stamkos, Heatley & Lombardi got our goals.

Also, Pierre McGuire interviewed for the GM position in Minnesota earlier this week.
Have to say, I dunno if I will miss him all that much on TSN.
I do really love him though when he's paired with Gord. I will admit.

Playoff talk - Pens, you MUST beat the Caps!
Go Nucks!!
Yay Ducks!!!
COME ONNNN BRUINS!!!!!

And the most talked about topic of the last couple days . . . can the Coyotes please please PLEASE come to Hamilton Mr. Ballsillie?
Or, preferrably the Waterloo region? (I like that drive better).
I will pee myself.

I signed up on makeitseven.ca

And I have a whole butload of opinions on this topic, which, as soon as I get the opportunity will post about incessantly.

Back to work.

Canada

Le Sigh. Did that just happen?

So we lost to Finland yesterday. In a shootout.
We had to go to a shootout. That was depressing.
I realise I am spoiled, just always expecting Canada to be #1 at all times in the world of hockey. But I mean, come on, we have seriously been dominating this tournament. I was expecting another regulation win. I think all Canadians expect that, btw.
But anyway, it was a hard fought game. I actually missed the 2nd period, but I hear Shane Doan got THREE penalties. Shane Doan. That makes me lol.

We're still first place in our division, which I guess is what's most important.
I suppose.
Quarter-Final game against Latvia (which, who knew? lol) is Thursday morning.

Sami Kapanen played awesome for Finland. I really miss him.
Lasse Kukkonen also played, it was nice to see him.
Sigh. My team needs to be in the playoffs this time next year, it is depressing.

Oh, and Ruutu, TAKE A LITTLE LONGER TO GET UP NEXT TIME!
Loser.

Okay, I have nothing else to say. I really do need to get into the habit of making posts directly after the game.

Later.
=)

May. 4th, 2009

Canada

Qualifications: Game 2 vs. Norway

So yeah, we ended up smoking Norway yesterday 5-1.

And Scottie Upshall FINALLY got his first point of the tourney!!!! It was an assist on Doughty's goal, I believe. I can't even remember right now. All I know is, this boy needs to get a goal of his own. He's been working his ass off, and getting some good scoring chances . . and guh! He needs to get a goal.

Also, this was Coburn's first game of the tournament. And yeah, pretty much for all of Scottie's shifts, Coburn was on the ice too. Sigh. I WANT HIM BACK ON THE FLYERS!!! kfhsfkd
Anyway.

I don't have much else to say right now.
Stamko's got his tournament leading 6th goal . . . he is also slowly creeping up on Crosby's Canadian record for most goals scored at the Worlds (8) by a teen.

Today is Finland. And then the quarter-finals start in a couple days!
This game today determines who will be 1st in our division.
And yeah. Now I officially have nothing else to say, and need to get back to work.

Later. =)

Oh, and DURH . . the PLAYOFFS! Haha.

Um so Ducks/Wings? Omigod. How epic? Great game. GO DUCKS!!! (Once my teams are out I root for my fave players instead, therefore Go Getzlaf!)
Also, very disappointed to hear about the Bruins loss (I didn't watch this game), I mean I wasn't expecting a sweep or anything, but I was really hoping they could go to Carolina with two wins under their belt!
(I don't like anyone on Carolina, whereas I like almost everyone on the Bruins. Therefore, Bruins ftw!!) ;)
/loser

Anyway, okay. Later.

May. 2nd, 2009

Canada

Qualifications: Game One

So I just realised now I completely forgot to update after the game on Thursday.

Canada ended up winning their first game in the qualification round against the Czech's 5-1.
It could have been a much closer game had the Czech's stayed out of the sin bin and had our PP not been epic as hell.

Tomorrow we play Norway (and Patrick Thoresen! I am so excited!), this will be Coburn's first game.
Also, Zajac is the additional forward who will also be making his debut.

So, also, it turns out Carter did get an invitation and had to turn it down because, as speculated, he did injure his shoulder in game 4.
There's a bit of info here.

And that is all for now.
I'll be back after the game tomorrow morning =)

Apr. 29th, 2009

WJC - Champs '05

Coburn heading to Switzerland . . .

HOW EXCITED AM I!?!?
Omigod.

I dunno why the idea of Coburn playing for Canada seriously never even occurred to me!
HOW AMAZING IS THIS?!?
I am excited!!

I'm guessing he won't be in tomorrow's game against the Czechs. . . as that would be pretty insane. . . but I think it's a safe bet to say he'll be in on Sunday against Norway!
I AM SO EXCITED!!!

Especially cause of my retarded obsession with the '05 junior team and his reunion with Weber. I will die. HAHA.
Okay, YAY!!

Anyway, they also added some other dude, but I was blinded by the site of 'Coburn' so I have to go back and see who it was. ROFL.
I think it was another D-man though . . . and there is still 1 spot left open for them to invite a forward . . .

Also, Neal is out for the rest of the tourney cause of his eye injury.

Okay, later.
=)
Flyers - Knuble - Are you a real fan?

No match for Canada . . .

Lots to talk about today.

First things first, Stanley Cup playoffs.

Last night the Canes beat the Devils in the most epic win so far this year.
I am not a fan of either the Devils or the Hurricanes, but I wanted the Canes to win this series SO bad. I felt like they deserved to win this series.

Now the Bruins need to kick their asses.

I was super disappointed with the results of the Capitals/Rangers game.
Lundqvist was awesome. And I was kinda heartbroken by that defeat.
Though, whatev, I wanted the Bruins to kick their asses anyway. ;)

So anyway, Eastern Conference round 2 matchups as follows:
Bruins (1) vs. Hurricanes (6)
Capitals (2) vs. Penguins (4)

I hate the Capitals more than I hate the Penguins believe it or not, so I want a Bruins/Penguins final . . . and then some Pens getting their asses kicked. =)

Secondly, Mike Richards!! WOOT!
Selke award nominees came out yesterday. He's in the running with Datsyuk and Kesler.
I hope he wins, he had such a fantastic season. And who can forget those seven shorties!
I'm a little bummed (well, more like alot) that one of my Flyboys is nominated for an award, and of course it is the first year the awards are not being held in Toronto. fkjhsdfasfksffglmkh

Also, it was announced yesterday that Richards has to undergo surgery on his right shoulder tomorrow (and possibly his left aswell) with a recovery time of 10-12 weeks.
Did I miss something? When did he get injured?

And in other Flyers related news, they also announced yesterday that the Phantoms are officially relocating to Glens Falls, NY for the 09/10 season.
I have never heard of Glens Falls, and therefore have no idea where it is. . . it'll be nice if it's somewhat close to the border though . . .

And finally - Canada is continuing their dominance at the Worlds! Yay!
Weber and St. Louis had AWESOME games yesterday as we beat Slovakia 7-3! Both had 4 point nights. Weber with 1 goal and 3 assists, and St. Louis with 4 assists.
Weber made and amazing pass (or took an amazing shot . . don't really know. haha) which resulted in one of Spezza's 2 goals.
We were up 7-1 until the last few minutes. Roloson was solid in net. It was a good game. Slovakia was taking way too many penalties though, and Canada's PP is amazing. (I believe it ended up being 5 for 8 or something like that).
Anyway, tomorrow is game 1 of the qualification round. Opponent unknown right now.
And it will be Scottie Upshall's return too! haha.
Also, I hope they announce the invites today. My hopes for it being a Flyer are now gone . . . but whatever! I'm still really excited!

Anyway, lunch break over. Need to get back to work . . . I really despise the end of the month, btw.

Later.
=)

Apr. 28th, 2009

WJC - Carter/Richards Cup

Ducks eat Sharks for lunch

So last night both the Ducks eliminated the Sharks and Hawks eliminated the Flames in 6 games.
And I truly have no idea what to expect of round 2.

So West semi-final matchups as follows:
Wings (1) vs. Ducks (8)
'nucks (3) vs. Hawks (4)

The east is still completely up in the air until tonights game 7's between the Caps/Rags and Devs/Canes.

My hope is for a Rags win and then a complete demolishing by the Bruins. And also a Canes win . . . and I dunno. I haven't thought this completely through. lol. I want them to beat the Pens, yes. (I didn't join a playoff pool this year, so I haven't really taken the time to think this all out. Haha).
Anyway, in the West what I would LOVE is a Canucks/Ducks final. But I am highly doubting that will happen.
I just really want the Bruins to make it out of the East more than anything else.

But anyway.

In Canada news, Upshall was suspended for just the one game against Slovakia this afternoon as initially thought. So I'm happy about that.
There haven't been any invitations yet, so Ruff is just moving some lines around to accomodate this. Ian White will be playing winger today, which is cool, he's done it for the Leafs . . . and he is awesome.
Also, Ian White, I don't think I've said it on here . . . thank you for shaving. ;)

I read an article yesterday and Armstrong said he wanted to wait until the first round of the playoffs were 100% complete so he knew exactly what he had to work with before he made his invites to the tournament. And more than likely he is looking for one forwards and one defensman. So we'll see.
I'm still hoping on Mike Richards (I really do think Carter is injured. Those last couple games something just wasn't right. ALSO, did you see that article on philly.com? How much more do I love this guy that he blames himself for not winning? You really can't people. There is not one flyboy you can put the blame on for how that series turned out. It was a combination of things not going as planned/expected and of the total suckasshattery of almost everyone. There is not ONE guy on the team that showed up for ALL 6 games. And that is the truth. . . . there are a few that showed up for 5. But there are also a few that showed up for 5 MINUTES. So yes. Okay, I will stop now.)
So as I was saying, I want Mike Richards on this team. Ooooh, or even a Giroux invite is someting I wouldn't be opposed to. I dunno about D yet. One of the guys at work said Thornton. I dunno. I only ended up watching like 1.5 games in the Ducks/Sharks series (hey, I have to be up by 6am every morning, these games end at like 1) but from what I heard, he hadn't really shown up. Do not need that to continue in the Worlds. . . . so yeah, I dunno.

Also, I saw on the bottom of the screen last night on TSN that there is a Kapanen playing for Finland. Dunno if its Sami or his brother . . . TSN will start airing non-Canada games only after the preliminary round, so yeah. Just got me thinking . . . it would be really cool if Niitty or Kimmo get to play for Finland too.
Sigh. It just makes me sad that my hockey season is over. I want my Flyers to live as long as possible. Haha.

Anyway, I really should get back to my work now. This post is so random and probably makes no sense anyway.

Later. =)

Canada

World Championships: Game 2

Canada beat Hungary 9-0.
Game was epic.
Spezza where were you all season? ;) Yeah, not so funny joke right there.

St. Louis had a hat trick. Weber had 2 goals. One of which was wicked awesome.

Scottie Upshall was suspended for, at the very least, Tuesday's game against Slovakia.
Early in the 2nd period he was thrown out of the game for a hit to the head (and apparently the dude broke his collar bone). There is going to be a hearing at some point to determine whether or not Upshall should be suspended longer.
It made me sad. It is Scottie.
Anyway. Flyers were mentioned throughout the game. Dreger's suggested invites were Carter, Richards, and/or Gagne. I hope at least one of them do get invited. I hate that their season is already over. It is still April!

Nash is officially not joining the team. Dreger said today that he is injured and may need up to 4-6 weeks to recover. So yeah.
Kinda bummed by this news, but whatev, is health is more important.

Anyway, okay. I'll be back Tuesday night after I watch the Slovakia game.

Later.
=)
Canada

Go Canada!!

So I guess the plus side of the Flyers being downed in 6 games is that now all my focus can be on the Worlds! Ha!
And also, I'm crossing my fingers that at least Richards will fly to Switzerland to join the team (but I REALLY want it to be Carter so he can be reunited with Upshall one last time. Haha).

I don't really want to say much about the Flyers/Pens series. For the most part the boys played a good series. I wasn't a fan of game 6.
And I'm pretty disappointed in Carter. Knuble however, finally showed up in epic proportions in game 5. And I loved his goal yesterday, too. Game 5 was probably the best game of the series. Coburn definitely stepped it up. Pretty much everyone showed up for that one. Carle especially stood out to me . . . I pretty much hated him through games 1-4 (same with Alberts for the most part).
Therefore, Homer, summer mission - NEW D!

CBC interviewed Mike Richards after the game. Man, that was so depressing to watch.

Anyway, okay, I said I don't want to talk about this, so I won't.

On to the Worlds!
Canada beat Belarus 6-1 on Friday.
You know, usually when I hear 'Belarus' I hear 'easy ass win!'. But it was not. We got lucky and got 4 goals in the 3rd. Otherwise, this game was pretty close. Their goalie was really good in the first two periods.

I'm really looking forward to this afternoon's game against Hungary.
Chris Mason has the start over Roloson. Which apparently will be his first game ever at the World's despite this being his third time on the team.

I hope Nasher joins the team for Tuesday's game (last I heard he was invited, but hadn't accepted yet). Reuniting him with Heatley will be awesome for us. It's too bad Getzlaf won't be around this year.

OH! One more thing re: the Belarus game. No two.
#1 - Ian White turning the puck over to Grabovski made me lmao. I laugh at alot of dumb stuff in hockey games . . . which people think I'm a dumbass loser for. But yeah. That was funny to me. Sigh.

#2 - Upshall. Despite not getting any points in the game had some awesome scoring chances AND I AM SO EXCITED!!! Haha.
He's playing on the line with Lombardi, as expected. And I really like the chemistry they have.

Ummm, I guess that's all. My brain isn't functioning properly right now anyway.

I don't think I'll be watching much more of the Playoffs except for a couple series.
GO BRUINS & 'NUCKS!!!!!

Flyers - Bleed It

I am officially in love with David Boreanaz.

So the Flyers got smashed last night, blah blah.
No need to rehash.
4-1 loss. Suckage. The End.

I am keeping with this being 'The Scottie Upshall Blog' haha.
Anyway, so Boreanaz phoned in on NHL Live today. I adore him.
As we all know, he is a Flyers fan and he's blogging again on nhl.com.

So, today they announced that Daniel Carcillo was suspended for game 2 tomorrow night because of that hit on Talbot at the end of the game. Also, Stevens was fined $10K for that asshattery. How awesome?
Like the game's result wasn't bad enough.

But ANYWAY. To my point. So Boreanaz was on NHL Live and he was dishing out the Upshall love. He was going on and on about how he still doesn't get the Upshall/Carcillo trade, and how much we need Upshall's energy right now, and how much Carcillo just makes him miss Upshall more.
DAVID BOREANAZ I LOVE YOU.

And basically that is all I wanted to say.

If my Flyboys get their heads out of their butts for tomorrow's game then I will def make a post about it.

Later.

Scottie is excited

2009 IIHF Men's World Championships

So apparently this has turned into the Scottie Upshall Blog.

He was named to Team Canada today for this year's World Championships!
I AM SO EXCIIIIITED!!!

First game is April 24 against Belarus.

Two of Scottie's teammates will be joining him. Shane Doan (who is shocked?) and Matthew Lombardi.
From the Leafs: Ian White & Luke Schenn
The Sens: Heatley, Spezza, Mike Fisher, and Chris Phillips.
Oilers: Dwayne Roloson & Shawn Horcoff

Ummm, the only other ones I can remember at the top of my head are Shea Weber, Martin St. Louis, Stamkos, and Doughty.

There's 5 spots remaining for guys that get eliminated in the 1st round of the playoffs . . . . so we know we won't be seeing Carter or Richards. But I will be happy to see Crybaby join the team. ;)

Anyway.

Also, they announced over the weekend that Lindy Ruff will be the head coach. I read about the rest of the coaching staff in the paper this morning, but my excitement over Upshall has me all frazzled right now.
Have I mentioned that I'm excited?!?
Heeee!

Okay, Ciao!
=)

Scottie is excited

My desert Flyboy, I miss you.

So I know I never update this thing anymore. It is bad.

Quickly though, I will say, JEFF CARTER GOT A HAT TRICK! WOOT WOOT!! FINALLY.
That is exciting! And fun! And yay!

Anyway, the reason I'm posting today is because I just finished watching last night's Coyotes/Kings game (I have not been able to NOT watch the Coyotes since the Upshall trade).
They interviewed Mr. Scottie during the 2nd intermission. I really miss him alot.
He seems happier now then he did a month ago. And he is having TONS more success as a Coyote (6G, 4A, 16games) then he did as a Flyer this season (7G, 14A, 50+ games). I can't remember how many games he played in for the Flyers this year exactly, but it is sick enough that I have all those other stats just sitting in my brain right now. LOL.
Anyway, so he talked a bit about what he wants in the future. And how much he is enjoying all the opportunities he's been getting in Phoenix. I hope they sign him this summer. This was the best move for his career that could've happened, I think.

And I'm getting the impression that Phoenix fans AND the organization have completely fallen in love with him already.
He's Scottie Upshall. He DOES have the power to do that. ;)

Also, still not liking the implications this trade has had on the Flyers. I was finally starting to warm up to Carcillo, but after getting kicked out of the game last night? bdsjkhfkjhfdfkjhfk
And is it just a coincidence that my Flyboys have been almost total ASS since the trade deadline? Like yeah, they've played some pretty good games in the month of March . . . but for the most part, ASS. They've been lacking heart, and playing too much catch up, and omigod with the take/giveaways!
I really want to think this has nothing to do with Upshall/Carcillo (or *cough* Briere *cough*), but this is me, so I will anyway.

Le. Sigh.

In other news, Danny Syvret of the Phantoms was named to the AHL First All-Star team this week!! YAY!!
I am so happy for him. This has been a career year for him. And yay! lol
Annnnnnnnnnd, I got to see him play for the Flyers on March 20th! Which was wicked awesome. I'd never seen him play live and in person before. Haha. . . . I was really dissappointed that I didn't get to go to a Phantoms game on either of my two trips to Philly this year, and I also missed them when they were in Toronto playing the Marlies in January. So seriously, was it not fate that he was called up for the Sabres game that I was going to? Think so! Haha.
And the best part about that was that it took me awhile to notice him during the warmups, so at one point I turned to [info]southerncross_ all upset that he wasn't there and I couldn't see him (cause I was seriously so excited for that, like I can't even say) . . . . and he was standing, literally, directly in front of me. It was good times . . . and I got it on video, so maybe I will post it sometime.
Anyway . . . rambling.

No clue when I'll post again.

Scottie is excited

My Desert Flyboy

Le sigh.
So, so far I have watched all 3 of Scottie Upshall's games as a Coyote (I actually opted out of watching Thursday's Flyers/Flames game for this, and it turned out to be the right decision).
This guy. Sigh.

The Coyotes have lost 2 of the 3 games since the trade, but whatever. Mr. Upshall has goals in 2 of those games.
And he has played some of his best hockey since I have been watching him. He's reminding me of this time last year Scottie. Playoff Scottie.
He just has so much energy and heart out there. And he's frickin everywhere. He's shooting like crazy.
Today's game he was a mental person. It was great.
He played almost 22 mins today. Which was the most of the forwards, and even more than most D too. That is amazing. He never had that much ice time with the Flyers. Not even close.

He's always going to be a Flyboy to me though, no matter what. He is what started the nickname, afterall.
Therefore, Desert Flyboy.
Haha.

Anyway, so I decided that I am unofficially a Phoenix fan now.
I already loved Shane Doan anyway. And my Upshall love, I can't quite explain (well, I can. Maybe one day I will).
Tuesday's Flyers/Sabres game is on TSN2 (which my cable company does not have, and the game is not on Centre Ice) so I'm gonna watch the Phoenix game instead.
Sighs.

I dunno why I'm posting this. I'm super bored right now, and just. jshdjkfhjksdhfkjdhfkjhdf
I have no one to gossip this crap to.

Okay, I am probably embarrassing myself.

Later.
